This week we had the pleasure to welcome Mareike virtually to our METROMOD team

by

Mareike will be focusing her research on the analysis of transcultural „flows“ between the arrival cities of New York, Buenos Aires, London, Istanbul, Bombay (now Mumbai) and Shanghai. Within the METROMOD team Mareike takes on an intermediary position. Her work tries to connect the cities, but is also dedicated to the remembrance of artistic exile.

Before joining the METROMOD team, Mareike has studied economics, literature and art history. She graduated with a master’s thesis on atmospheres of »commoning« in urban public space at LMU Munich. Her research interests span from the social relevance of art and architecture within the scope of migration and exile to the politics of memory, in summer 2020 she also undertoook an Oral History project on curating in memorial places at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. We’re looking forward to a great time and new inspirations!
